I offer short or long-term counselling and psychotherapy for English, Russian or Estonian-speaking adults.
I provide a safe and confidential environment to collaboratively explore any issues and difficulties you may be experiencing, such as:
- Anxiety and Panic attacks
- Relationship issues
- Communication difficulties
- Self-identity and self-esteem issues
- Cultural adjustment
What happens in therapy
In the first session we explore what brings you to see me. It will give us opportunity to discuss the issues that might be bothering you, to consider how therapy might work for you and to find out if I am the right therapist for you.
If you decide you would like to begin therapy with me, we can discuss your goals for therapy and the focus of our work together and practicalities involved (e.g. availability, confidentiality, fee, cancellation policy).
We will be regularly reviewing goals and outcomes of therapy and whether you feel that you are benefiting from it, allowing us to collaboratively adjust or find new direction and focus. I will support you in deciding on the depths and length of therapy that you would like to engage in. Short-term work can generally be used to look at the particular issue, identifying possible solutions and coping strategies. Longer term work allows more in-depth exploration, increasing self-awareness, processing of traumatic experiences and developing more adaptive ways of engaging with oneself and others.
My approach to psychotherapy
My approach is integrative, drawing on psychoanalytic, humanistic, existential and relational theoretical frameworks and methods, depending on particular needs of a client as one type of therapy does not fit everyone.
I see the psychotherapy as joint process of discovery and exploration, where growth and change are promoted in the context of facilitating environment, through shedding the new light on the affective, cognitive and relational aspects of subjective experiences and the meaning making processes, and the formation of new organisations of experience.
